Israeli Vibe(r)s

Thanks to dear friends Hamid and Hana, I now know VIBER is an Israeli product with possible links to IDF (I'm uninstalling as I'm writing this). This product is totally disposable and Hana already did the research for us for alternative apps, just google "Viber Israeli" and you'll find its page on the Israeli Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor.

A quote from Hana's fb:

"Dear Viber friends,

Today someone told me that Viber is an Israeli product with links to the IDF so I decided to do a little bit of research. I did not have to try so hard.

According to their linkedin page Viber Media Inc. (http://www.linkedin.com/company/viber-media-inc.), the company that owns the app, employs 26 individuals of whom at least 3 have connections to the Israel and the IDF:
- Director of Business Development, Yaron S (http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=10481215&authType=OUT_OF_NETWORK&authToken=z-lD&trk=hb_upphoto) worked with the Israeli Ministry of Defense for 4 years
- Project Manager, Dror Ayalon (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dror-ayalon/24/505/25b) worked with the IDF Intellegence for 3 years
- Mobile Client Team Leader, Alex Fleshel (http://www.linkedin.com/in/alexfleshel) worked with the IDF for 3 years

Personally this is enough to choose to stop using this app. I invite you to do the same if you believe in the value of BDS.

You might want to check out some other alternatives:

And yes I realize that Viber is also on some of these lists !"

Happy tapping to all!

Everything looks better in 3D! even Avatar(s)

Go watch "Avatar" in 3D! end of story. Like the story line or not, you'll enjoy it trust me, and be sure your ass in your seat before the commercials and trailers start, to the 1st time ever I want to watch more trailers before a movie, and don't be ashamed reaching out to that turtle wanting to touch it in the aqua thingy movie or whatever trailer ,or the "registered trademark" sign in "20th Century Fox" logo for that matter!

couple of thoughts on 3D theater though ..

1st of all, congratulations teenagers, making out in theater (do you still do that? it was popular in my time) was never this easy, take your 3D glasses off during the movie and look back, everybody is hypnotized and polarized towards the screen, enjoy.

2nd, I couldn't help but thinking, wow! If we just could watch Shark Week in 3D, Nat Geo or any other nature thingy program that'd be awesome !!

3rd, I also couldn't help thinking, wow! another-genre-of-things-we-watch would be much better and more realistic in double D,I mean 3D!!!

4th, holy crap, there's something called "Watch in 4D"? can't wait to experience that ,I'll also think of 2nd and 3rd when I do that.

5th, DO clean your glasses before watching, that blur in your vision isn't intintional, it must be the guy who wore the glasses before you cleaning it the Jordanian way, spit and wipe.

PS : "I see you". lol (u'll have to watch the movie to get that).

How much do you trust E-Banking services? (with poll)

I've subscribed to the Arab Bank E-banking services since they started - I guess- couple of years back, and comparing today to those old days it has improved much, I now pay all my bills online, not that I don't like to see or interact with real humans, its just more convenient nowadays for me, having to deal with lines of people waiting, the clumsy -sometimes- employee who takes ages to get the job done, the change that's never there of course, so yea I find E-Banking a great tool to save you time and headache, not many of the people I know do that, when I bring it up it all comes down to distrust -of technology in general i guess-, or in technology in this aspect in specific, I don't think you can talk people into it,they either do or they don't ,and those who don't seem to have a profound belief that its a bad idea, there's always this fear of something going wrong and losing their assets, and its not only the older generation, young ones too don't believe its safe ! I'm just curious is it only in the Arab world that this paranoia exist or outside too ? whatever this poll is going to say, I'll still use the online services ,sooner or later people will come around it,I guess ! so, do you trust E-Banking ? Would you pay your bills online ? and why
Do you trust E-banking ?
I live in the Arab World, yes I do
I live in the Arab World, No I don't
I live outside the Arab World, yes I do
I live outside the Arab World,No I don't

Sharing is caring, how to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report on their websites (Outside the US)

Comedy Central banned viewers outside the US of watching clips and full episodes of my two favourite variety shows (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and (The Colbert Report) on the shows websites , Torrent download was the easy alternative ,but ironically enough ,I found the solution (finally) posted on The Colbert Report messages board :D

So if you're outside the US and would like to watch ,here is what you need to do :

1)Get Mozilla Firefox broweser ( http://mozilla.com )
2)Install this add-on ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/policy/0/967/50889? src=addondetail ) as you can see its frrom Mozilla's website,no maleware or anything of that kind .
*after you have installed the add-on and restarted your Firefox browser :
3) In Firefox, Go to tools->modify headers
4)From the drop down box on the left select add
5)Then enter: "X-Forwarded-For" in the first input box without the quotation marks
6)Enter: "12.13.14.15" in the second input box without the quotation marks

7)Leave the last input box empty, and save the filter, and enable it
8)Click the 'Configuration' tab on the right then proceed to check the 'always on' button.
9)Close the Modify Headers box and you should find you can watch the clips again.
You can find the Daily Show's videos here http://www.thedailyshow.com/videos
and The Colbert Report's here http://www.colbertnation.com/video
You can also watch the full episodes (click the Full Episode tab) .

It worked ,I just watched some , I tried going to Hulu.com I thought maybe it'd work with that too , but I had a message saying they can't stream the episodes and I should check my internet connection (NOT sorry bla bla bla you're outside the US) so there's a lil bit of progress ! we're on the right path !

This is for Kinzi ,as requested , Jon Stewart on Obama's peace prize

Sharing is caring, few blogger tricks and widgets

I've been adding some stuff to my blog page and found some of them to be "good" ,I thought I'd share them

-> The live traffic feed
->The "Recent comments" widget
-> Make links open in a new window ( whether in posts only or anywhere in the blog)
-> Bookmarking : share this on facebook, twitter ,and many other places (*) -like the ones I have here- ... ( explained in there what to delete in order to get "just" this button or that, its also common sense you can figure it out yourself ) .
and there is this other one i found that looks like this if you wish  you can find the code and installation here ( note : if you followed the instruction to where to place the code as in the link it'll come up at the top of your post , if you wish to have it at the bottom, just copy the code from that page and place it where it tells you to place it in the 1st link (*) ).
-> Picture tags ,geeky stuff I learned from a friend ,when you upload a picture in your post, go to the "Edit HTML" in the composer and find this part "img alt=" (you can click alt+f to search the code)and write some tags for the picture between the " " cuz it will be empty otherwise (this is good for search engines if you really care) .

And just a general tip, lol, when you link something like "your youtube channel) like on the top of your blog, link it to the actual youtube channel of your's that you use and upload videos to , double check everything ...even if two years later ! :D
That's pretty much about it ! you're welcome . If you got something cool, share it .

Google Chrome : fairly good !! IE,goodbye for bloody good !

Finally ,when i'll have to use something else than FireFox for wutever reason ,I'm not going to suffer through using IE !

Google chrome is the new google browser ,its available in Beta version still ,its light and fast ,so far so good.

you can import your settings from FF while set up , here is the home page where you can download it from .

the address bar automatically fills the matching addresses and at the same time suggests searching options (no need for search bar anymore ,and it gives you the option to set your default search engine from the settings (google,yahoo,wutever...) ).

The "new Tab" isn't a blank page ,it will have thumbnails for your most frequently visited pages ,which looks super cool :d and on the side-bar your recent bookmarks !

I'm not blown away however , so far i couldn't find any add-on !
BUT,it will make a good substitute for the IE for me at least. I hope/sure these things will be added in the next version.

check out the google chrome press conference here

Posting from the new google-chrome,kana ma3akom moraselekom :....*drum roll* ..Naser! happy browsing :D
