Email hacks,passwords and shit like that

*Yawn* I woke up to three emails from Twitter, Yahoo and (even) IMDB about my email and passwords and the recent Yahoo hack and associated accounts and god knows what, for the past hour I've been resetting passwords and fixing what's fixable. Now before you think (It's not going to happen to me because I use different passwords) let me assure you, I do use different password for each account! never the same, never "easy" passwords. So, that being said, here are few things you can do:

1st of all, to check if your email was in the recent Yahoo leak, check out this website (it doesn't have to be a Yahoo account, don't ask me how :s but one of my gmail accounts was compromised), I landed on that website from TechCrunch  article posted yesterday so it should be trusted.

2. Gmail has a new brilliant service, The 2-Step Verification, check it out and sign up for it here, it basically requires your password and then a code sent to you (or generated by a Google Authinticator app on your smart phone) to log in! Of course they've thought of a solution in case your phone was stolen or was not available. They also offer to generate you a specific passwords for third parties (your Android phone, Outlock, etc...) which is cool.

3. Remember to backup your phone contacts and stuff, manually or through an app. You don't want to have that moment where you realize you've LOST ALL contacts, images, etc on your phone.

4. Did you know that you can download a copy of your facebook?! everything; status updates, friends, your photos and videos, notes... You just need to go to Account Setting and click on the little thing at the bottom (download a copy of facebook data)

Israeli Vibe(r)s

Thanks to dear friends Hamid and Hana, I now know VIBER is an Israeli product with possible links to IDF (I'm uninstalling as I'm writing this). This product is totally disposable and Hana already did the research for us for alternative apps, just google "Viber Israeli" and you'll find its page on the Israeli Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor.

Jordan social media Bullshit day

Jordan celebrated social media day yesterday in some café in Jabal Amman, I was reluctant to go for many reasons, one of them is the high blood pressure condition I developed recently associated with the words "twitter, #jo, and #reformjo", not to mention that "Social Media" has became a trend, and I just don't like anything trendy, in the sense of everyone wants to do it for the sake of becoming one esteemed member of the herd. Nevertheless, when I found coworkers heading to Rainbow St. anyway, and found out that some friends are attending and one of them is speaking (@alidahmash), I thought why not, I'll go see my friends and hopefully meet some of the few interesting people in the Jordanian blog and twit spheres. But let's discuss something 1st shall we?

Social Media as far as I'm concerned, is by definition, social, not it's not called Private media, or vip media, or limited media, or elite media, it's social medial no? So my 1^st question is: why on Earth did you choose a limited-seating place to celebrate at? And why didn't you even mention it in your facebook event and tweets, why didn't you make sure everyone who was invited (personally) was allowed in (even if arrived late?), and why isn't "I'm attending" on a facebook event page enough to REALLY RSVP a social media event? I really enjoyed waiting for 45 minutes to get in, the stories and drama at the door was the best thing that event had to offer, to me.

Now to the core of my problem with all that, it's the bullshit and pretentiousness of the social media scene in Jordan which is getting worse and worse by day. It's a matter of personal taste and convictions, but I just dislike such settings with big tables and big chairs and plates of mini burgers and one-spoon-of-hummos-mini-sandwiches served, add to it the limited seating and the feeling you get from everyone that they're the most important person in the world because they got a Tarboosh with a name tag on it starts with "@". I really wish to understand why are people so distant when they're only 5 feet away from you, and I don't wish for multiple copies of @Alichubby sweetness, one is enough for all of us :D (no pun intended Ali :D) but get down to Earth Jordan tweeps, really! You didn't reinvent the wheel, you're just using the platform, and speaking of which, if you don't have anything valuable to say, please keep to yourself! Just retweet or something, you don't have to add everytime! The decrease in substance in content streamed through twitter in the last 3-4 months in Jordan is depressing. Everyone goes to every tweetup now, because it's cool, tweetups are getting ridiculous when you think about it, starting with the locations (it has to be super duper uber cool and pretentious) to the subjects discussed (nothing meaningful, kinda matches the subjects of 80% of the tweets you read everyday!).

Anyway, I just wanna say, being on twitter or having a blog changes nothing about you, if you're cool then your tweets and your blogposts will be cool, if you're intelligent it'll show and if you're not it'll also show. So take it easy and 5effo 3alaina shway.

PS: A message to people I like and respect who I got to know online, like Roba Assi, Foad Jeryes, Ali Dahmash, Ammar Ibrahim etc… , please choose the platforms and events on which you'll be speaking carefully and don't over do it, and if you insist, think of new jokes to start with ;) don't get sucked into somewhere not cool.

RT or "Re-Tweeting"; another stolen Arab invention

Just in case you're not familiar with the term, an RT or a Retweet is a Tweet (A message sent via Twitter) being sent again by someone else... now to the point:

I really hate how "the west" stole, is stealing, and will always steal our brilliant ideas! Retweeting -the art of repetition- isn't a new internet trend if you ask me, its been there since I can remember, every time something important happened and we were too lazy to do something about it we either Retweet the same things to ourselves, or receive a comforting Retweet from higher powers through media.
Re-tweeters vary from ordinary Arab citizens, to parliament representatives, to ministers and prime ministers and heads of states. We are with no doubt the inventors of the Retweet, and to cope up with the current fast pace world we live in today, the useless Retweets are becoming shorter and shorter by time, that they don't mean anything anymore, they don't even piss me off anymore... and since I need to rant about something, really, I'd like to retweet my favorite Retweet ever

I also call for a fierce and serious facebooking about the issue, we need to unify our forces to get an acknowledgment of our stolen idea, Palestine seem to be on the right track of being liberated with this much facebook groups, we shall be next! but please... when you create your own facebook support group (which I appreciate) for this cause, refrain from using godly names, its true tens of thousands of ignorant Arabs will support you without reading a word of what's in your page, but we don't want a counter strike when they all suddenly wake up and forget all about the cause and get their fix of sense of accomplishment by shutting down a facebook page.

How much do you trust E-Banking services? (with poll)

I've subscribed to the Arab Bank E-banking services since they started - I guess- couple of years back, and comparing today to those old days it has improved much, I now pay all my bills online, not that I don't like to see or interact with real humans, its just more convenient nowadays for me, having to deal with lines of people waiting, the clumsy -sometimes- employee who takes ages to get the job done, the change that's never there of course, so yea I find E-Banking a great tool to save you time and headache, not many of the people I know do that, when I bring it up it all comes down to distrust -of technology in general i guess-, or in technology in this aspect in specific, I don't think you can talk people into it,they either do or they don't ,and those who don't seem to have a profound belief that its a bad idea,there's always this fear of something going wrong and losing their assets, and its not only the older generation, young ones too don't believe its safe ! I'm just curious is it only in the Arab world that this paranoia exist or outside too ? whatever this poll is going to say, I'll still use the online services ,sooner or later people will come around it,I guess ! so, do you trust E-Banking ? Would you pay your bills online ? and why

10) The name is just stupid? People don't "tweet" nor do birds Speak!

9) Keeping up with it feels like running a marathon ,you keep running but you're not quite there yet!...ever!

8) you can't really talk about it with anyone who is not on it!and the chances you come across a twitterje/yyeh among your friends,family or colleagues in Jordan are similar to the chances I had in Thailand in finding someone who knew "where Jordan is" without a reference to Israel,Dubai,Saudi,or Iraq! 

7) I don't understand what's up with the "#" thing ! I just act like I do ! and my ignorance is never my problem!

6) You have so many people following you who never really follow you,you have so many people you follow who you never follow ! Yup,as If your imaginary "friends" on facebook weren't enough!

5) It sounds funny in Arabic : تويـتَر! I can almost hear the Egyptian worker downtown shouting repeatedly to sell his tweets; تِويتَر ضِد الويتَر ! Don't ask me what that means ! I just keep hearing it whenever someone mention توييييتر!ahhhh shut up, voices in my head!!!

4) It is stealing bloggers away !!People are now tweeting what could've been a good blogpost! and if you are a blogger and your 1st reaction to this is "NO NO NO!EH" I'd like you to repeat the following loudly : hello,my name is (your name) and I'm a twittiholic! denial is the hardest to overcome, the rest will be a smooth sailing!get well soon ya'll!

Comedy Central banned viewers outside the US of watching clips and full episodes of my two favourite variety shows (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and (The Colbert Report) on the shows websites , Torrent download was the easy alternative ,but ironically enough ,I found the solution (finally) posted on The Colbert Report messages board :D

So if you're outside the US and would like to watch ,here is what you need to do :

1)Get Mozilla Firefox broweser ( http://mozilla.com )
2)Install this add-on ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/policy/0/967/50889? src=addondetail ) as you can see its frrom Mozilla's website,no maleware or anything of that kind .
*after you have installed the add-on and restarted your Firefox browser :
3) In Firefox, Go to tools->modify headers
4)From the drop down box on the left select add
5)Then enter: "X-Forwarded-For" in the first input box without the quotation marks
6)Enter: "12.13.14.15" in the second input box without the quotation marks

7)Leave the last input box empty, and save the filter, and enable it

8)Click the 'Configuration' tab on the right then proceed to check the 'always on' button.

9)Close the Modify Headers box and you should find you can watch the clips again.

-> Bookmarking : share this on facebook,twitter ,and many other places (*) -like the ones I have here- ... ( explained in there what to delete in order to get "just" this button or that, its also common sense you can figure it out yourself ) .
and there is this other one i found that looks like this if you wish  you can find the code and installation here ( note : if you followed the instruction to where to place the code as in the link it'll come up at the top of your post , if you wish to have it at the bottom,just copy the code from that page and place it where it tells you to place it in the 1st link (*) ).
-> Picture tags ,geeky stuff I learned from a friend ,when you upload a picture in your post, go to the "Edit HTML" in the composer and find this part "img alt=" (you can click alt+f to search the code)and write some tags for the picture between the " " cuz it will be empty otherwise (this is good for search engines if you really care) .

And just a general tip,lol,when you link something like "your youtube channel) like on the top of your blog, link it to the actual youtube channel of your's that you use and upload videos to , double check everything ...even if two years later ! :D

5- فقدان مفاجيء للتوازن خصوصا اذا ترافق مع أي من العلامات أعلاه

من هم الأشخاص الأكثر تعرضا للاصابة بالجلطة الدماغية
بالطبع لا يمكنك السيطرة على التأريخ الوراثي للعائلة أوالسن ونوع الجنس أو العرق. لكن لحسن الحظ يمكنك أن تفعل شيئا غير ذلك، ومن العوامل التي قد تزيد من مخاطر الاصابة بسكتة دماغية هي السمنة ، ونوع الغذاء ، وداء السكري والتدخين وارتفاع ضغط الدم وارتفاع الكوليسترول في الدم.

الضربة الأولى للجلطة الدماغية تحدث بسبب خثرة دم في وعاء شعري دماغي، الخثرة تسبب انسداد الوعاء الشعري أما المضاعفات فتحدث بشكل تدريجي حينما ينفجر الوعاء المضروب وينتج عنه نزفا دماغيا ثم ظهور علامات على المصاب مثل شحوب الوجه والخطاب المدغم الغير مفهوم والفم المرتخي والملتوي ثم فقدان للوعي.

لتجنيب المصاب المضاعفات المتأتية نتيجة الجلطة (السكتة الدماغية)
على الشخص المسعف عدم الذعر ومساعدة الضحية التزام الهدوء
ان كان المصاب في وضع الوقوف يجب مساعدته على الجلوس لتجنيبه السقوط، والامتناع تماما عن تحريكه من المكان الذي هو فيه لأن أي حركة بسيطة أو نقل ستؤدي الى انفجار الوعاء الشعري المسدود وحدوث نزيف في الدماغ.

تذكرت انني استلمت رسالة الكترونية تتضمن ملخص خبرة برفيسور صيني لطريقة اسعاف فوري لضحية الجلطة الدماغية. المعلومات التي في الرسالة بسيطة وبكل يسر يمكنك الاحتفاظ بها في ذاكرتك . لاأحد يدري! لربما تجد نفسك في موقف وحياة شخص ما تعتمد على سرعة تصرفك لانقاذه!

استخدم هذه الأبرة لوخز طرف كل من الأصابع العشرة ليد الشخص المصاب. الوخز سيسبب نفور قطرة دم من كل أصبع واذا لم تظهر قطرة دم، حاول الفرك مع الضغط على طرف الأصابع. حينما يظهر الدم من الأصابع العشرة انتظر دقائق قليلة ستلاحظ ان المصاب بدأ يستعيد وعيه وعودة اللون الى وجهه والحياة الى عينيه.
أذا كان فم الضحية قد اصيب بالارتخاء والالتواء، على المسعف سحب حلمتي الأذنين (شحمة الأذن) حتى تمتلئا بالدم ويظهر عليهما اللون الأحمر، أعمل وخزتان بالأبرة المعقمة لتظهر قطرتان من الدم من كل شحمة أذن، بعد دقائق قليلة المريض يجب أن يستعيد وعيه.

If you ask me a general question "what do you hate ?" probably the 1st thing that will come to mind as something i absolutely hate would be 4WD E-mails , why ? Because they're full of shit. I'm not talking about the "i love you my friend" or "great quotes" kind of 4wd emails, I'm talking about the ones which take you for a fool , the ones that tells you what to do because they know better and because they're written eloquently . The fact that there is so much bull shit circling around makes me angry, that people actually believe this non sense without sweating to check the facts drives me nuts .so I've been checking those disastrous emails and i have a HUGE pile of lies i'll be posting them under : 4wd email lies exposed .

After a little bit of googling and digging,i found this same text ALL OVER THE PLACE ,and the oldest on one forum is dated 23-12-2004 !! since 2004!! thats whole 5 years!!!

Back to research : Dated Two years later ,i found this :

وجاء في بيان للوزارة أنها قامت بتحليل عينات من المحلول الذي يقوم المذكور ببيعه واتضح خلوه من أي مادة تساعد على علاج أمراض السرطان بل هو عبارة عن مواد طبيعية تستخدم كمحسنات للنكهة والطعم ومعطرة إلى جانب احتوائها على مواد تسبب التهيج والحساسية للأنف والرئتين إذا تم استنشاقها إضافة إلى احتوائها على سكر الجلوكوز وكحول إيثيلي.
وطالبت الوزارة الجميع باتخاذ الحيطة والحذر من التعامل مع مدعي الطب والانسياق خلف الادعاءات المضللة والإعلانات غير المرخصة من قبل الوزارة.

I was *FINALLY* approached by one of those ! I was awfully happy, I played dumb so they'd go all the way with me, I wanted to experience 1st hand how do they operate ! but when i had too little too much fun with it ,the scammers knew i was bluffing :(

1st thought : i thought these people were smart ! Mrs Lelwa from Kuwait ? A Christian too, I mean there are roughly 200,000 Christian in Kuwait ! and all those typos too ??? - FireFox anybody? -

2nd thought : i thought these people have access to our private data somehow !why did they expect i was a Christian ? my name ? maybe if i was still in the middle east !But I'm located in Thailand ( I assumed they checked IP addresses at least) ,the reasonable assumption should be that I'm a Buddhist !!

Anyway, i tried to play along ,i replied with this :

The question that comes to mind : who falls for those ignorant ?? I'd assume someone as (or more) ignorant ! but I hear they're making good business out of this !

Using religion against people to tackle their feelings (or fears) is pretty powerful tool ,that only when you're ignorant enough about your religion to fall for it I believe . like those text messages that's been around in Jordan and other Arab countries ,or even phone calls ; where they tell you that there is a spell and magic on you and tell you some information about you ! and of course ,for some good chunk of your salary they can make it go away .LOL. problem is ,people not only sometimes fall for it, if they didn't ,they'd freak out, just because magic and spells were mentioned they'd freak the hell out and live in fear for couple of days .

"IGNORANCE" is Today's word !
